During my Christmas vacaciones I decided to read The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was one of my favorite movies when I was little but I had never read the book. Many things in my life were changing when I was reading the book and, because I don’t believe in coincidences, I found a special meaning in it.
For me, the book is about happiness, but more importantly, on how to find it. Being happy starts with one’s self. If you’re not willing to be happy then you are never going to be happy. In life you are going to encounter very dificult and negative situations; situations where you don’t feel comfortable and things that you simply don’t want to do, and it is very easy to stay in bed under the sheets, complain and let the time go by, but in the end it is much more satsifactory to face those situations and look for the positive aspects in them.
I am one of those people who believes that when you start having negative thoughts you are already going downhill and you are scaring away all those positive things that might have been coming your way. So I invite you all to change this bad habit; every time that you start thinking about negative things find at least one positive thing and you will see how everything starts to change because, as a very special person in my life onces said, «happiness can be found in the small things in life.»
Dedicado a mi tío Marco.
«Much more surprising things can happen to any one who, when a disagreeable or discouraged thought comes into his mind, just has the sense to remember in time and push it out by putting in an agreeable determinedly courageous one.»
